The man sitting in the viewing area was a man named William Prall, who Lincoln recognizes as the name of his father’s favorite player when he used to take him to ballgames as a child. Michael resumes his plans for escapes with the use of a guard uniform he borrowed from a cousin of Sucre who works in the laundry room. As he makes his way back to the Psych Ward, he is almost caught by a guard which has him badly burning his back as he presses hard on hot pipes while he was trying to hide. Safe back in the cell, he is helped by Sucre who tears the badly burned uniform from his back resulting in Michael passing out.
Lincoln is strapped into the execution chair as he happens to spot a familiar face in the crowd of viewers. He signals his brother who fails to get his signals and misses the man. The execution is delayed due to new information that has surfaced which has the body of the Vice-president’s body, exhumed for further investigation. With Lincoln spared for two more weeks, Michael re-formulates his plan for escape through the same route which his fellow prisoners see as crazy. As it goes, an anonymous source has dropped evidence that was enough ground for a reinvestigation of Lincoln’s case whereby the Vice-President’s brother has an appendix removed without it being included in any of his medical records.
Michael heads back to the walls behind his cell where he finds a rat which he uses to short out the fuse boxes to the electric chair. Unbeknownst to them, the repairman has found the problem with the fuses and Michael’s rat and promptly fixes the problem with no delays to the scheduled execution of Lincoln. Michael is surprised to get final visitation with his brother as the execution time nears.
Outside, Nick and Veronica try to find a way of delaying the execution by filing an appeal with a judge that was promptly dismissed who then turn to Dr. Tancredi (whose father is the Governor of the State) who promises to look into it. The Governor calls as the preparation to Lincoln’s execution are underway to inform them that the execution is to go on as scheduled after he has been promised a reward by the Vice-President. Veronica and Lincoln bid each other goodbye as he is led to the execution chamber. Michael hugs his brother goodbye as he is led away to face the electric chair.
The escape plan fails, with Michael, Sucre, T-Bag, C-Note and Westmoreland trapped in a space below the infirmary where Lincoln is waiting for them. The pipe Michael has corroded has been repaired and they have nowhere to go as they try hard to break the new pipe. A piece of pipe falls and is heard by a guard who investigates the sound while they rush into the guard’s break room after he leaves. They are all sent by Bellick to their cells after the failed attempt as Michael and Westmoreland try to discuss a way of how they can delay the execution of Lincoln for about three weeks as the problem is fixed by the prison authorities.
He asks for a last wish to be granted him to see his brother to whom he hands the crucifix along with a note saying that he is to take the pill at 8:10. Lincoln becomes extremely ill and is taken to the infirmary where Dr. Tancredi surmises he is suffering from food poisoning. The prisoners use the prison’s tunnels to reach the infirmary where a pipe previously corroded by Michael with a chemical compound is located. Upon getting under the infirmary, they suddenly realize that the pipe has been replaced and their attempts to remove it are in vain even with the help of Lincoln from above. T-Bag realizes their escape plans have been delayed further with the repaired pipe when he suddenly pulls a shank and threatens Michael.
Abruzzi is medevaced out to a medical facility after T-Bag slits his thrown and Lincoln is whisked to solitary confinement after he hits a guard who was about to stumble upon their finished tunnel. The group tries to figure out what to do next with Michael wanting to delay the break just until he gets to spring Lincoln out of confinement. They decide to leave that night at 9pm after Michael is threatened by his fellow prisoners. Back in his cell, he slits open his arm to retrieve a black pill which he places inside a crucifix he borrowed from Sucre. He hopes the chaplain would allow him to give the crucifix to his brother.
